As part of Pikene på Broen’s ongoing research on how artists from outside our area become inspired by the border region, the unique Japanese art duo Usaginingen were invited to Kirkenes. The duo is an innovative audio-visual performance project who have developed and built its own Visual Machine. Equipped with a camera, an animation table with glass layers, a rotating drum, water basins, colored ink along with beads, mirrors, prisms, handcrafts and lots more! Usaginingen creates a magical world live in front of the audience and are accompanied by a world of sounds created with a multi-functional percussion instrument.
The visual impressions created by Usaginingen are reminiscent of looking through a magnifying glass – twine become wires, drops a waterfall and a single reflection a firework – all together these images invite the audience to plunge into a world of inspirations and associations which will fill the history-loaded space of Andersgrotta.
